Overcome Temptation

The path to maturity was no easier for Jesus than it is for us. He “was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin” (Hebrews 4:15). In His human nature, Jesus experienced every form of temptation we experience, and yet He never sinned. It is no sin to be tempted! Sin comes only when we yield to temptation.

What was it that enabled Jesus, in spite of His true humanity, to overcome all temptation? His success lay in His single-hearted, unchanging motivation to do the Father’s will.  Excerpt is taken from Derek Prince’s Daily Devotional

We have been given the Word of God as a defence, for instance “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted what you are able; but in that temptation will make a way of escape for you, so that you may be able to bear it”.

As the law of the land is enforced by the police, so to is the devil’s defeat with the Word of God.

The Father’s will is that thing which gets us excited when we wake up in the morning.  It is that thing which we are very good at and takes little effort, where we are doing something to benefit others.  That thing which God has anointed (enabled) us to do, which nobody else can do as well and people will notice when we are not at our post.

The book of John is a popular book to read when reading the bible for the first time or when doing our first works again.  It focuses on the life of Jesus.  Whilst doing this study His Word came alive at John 6:40 “For this is my Father’s will and propose, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him (as Saviour) will have eternal life, and I will raise him up (from the dead) on the last day.

Are you ready for the return of Jesus?  If not, you need to be Born Again.  We need to prepare for that Day of Reckoning, where we will have to account for our lives on this Earth.  Do you trust in your good deeds to save you?  Have you lived a perfect life?  God says our righteousness is like filthy rags.  We need Jesus!

Only the blood of Jesus can take away our sin, which separates us from a Holy God and only the blood of Jesus can make us whole again.  Life has given us more baggage than we’d care to mention.  In a nutshell, we need a Saviour.  We need Jesus!
